An internal hackathon of IT Community of Uzbekistan

2025

By the community, for the community

For one month, volunteers built products for the IT Community itself. Every Saturday brought video lessons and mentor sessions, so teams learned to think like founders while they were building.

The format

More than a coding contest

The hackathon ran for a month, and the goal was never only working code. Participants were meant to leave thinking like founders, so every Saturday there were video lessons and mentor sessions on value propositions, minimum viable products and idea validation.

The rest of the week went into the products themselves, built for problems the community knew from the inside.

What teams worked on

  • Validating the idea with real users
  • Product logic and how it holds together
  • Practical implementation
The ideas

More than 30 ideas, five that stood out

Volunteers proposed over thirty ways to make the IT Community better. These were among the brightest.

Event management platform

Registration, ticket sales, badges and attendance tracking in one tool.

Weekly AMA sessions

A platform where IT specialists and startup founders meet students and answer their questions.

Anonymous employer reviews

A space to share what working somewhere is actually like, salaries included.

IT events calendar

One hub that keeps track of what is happening across the local IT scene.

TechQuest

A team IT challenge with game mechanics, built for people who are just starting out.

Why the community builds for itself

  • Idea validation and early product development
  • Support for innovation coming from inside the team
  • Community ideas turned into real projects

Initiatives like this one keep the team close and help its people grow professionally, which is how the future of the community gets built.
