Welcome Bot

A small Telegram bot that lives inside the IT Community volunteers group. It greets everyone who joins and asks them to say a few words about themselves.

Nothing to install and nothing to open: the bot works in the group itself.

What it does

Two things, both at the right moment

The bot does not run the community. It covers the first minute in the group, which is the minute people usually spend not knowing what to say.

Greeting

Welcomes every new volunteer

As soon as someone joins the group, the bot greets them, so the arrival is noticed instead of passing unnoticed in the feed.

Introduction

Asks for a few words about yourself

It invites the newcomer to introduce themselves, which is how the community finds out who joined and what they do.

Where it sits

The last step of onboarding

Becoming a volunteer takes several steps, and the Welcome Bot is the one that happens after all of them.

  1. 1 Bot

    Tasks in the volunteers bot

Applications and onboarding tasks go through the ITCom Volunteers Bot.

  2. 2 Quiz

    Rules and values

The IT Quiz confirms that the rules of the community are understood.

  3. 3 Group

    The group opens

After the quiz is passed, the new volunteer joins the community group.

  4. 4 Welcome

    The bot says hello

The greeting arrives, and with it the invitation to introduce yourself to everyone else.

Main goal

Why such a small bot exists

01

Onboarding that feels friendly

The first minute in a new chat sets the tone. A greeting makes the group feel like a place where someone was waiting for you.

02

Comfortable from day one

The prompt gives a new volunteer a reason to write their first message, and gives everyone else a reason to answer it.

Want to be greeted by it?

The bot waits in the volunteers group. The way there starts with an application and the onboarding tasks.

Already in the group

If the bot has greeted you and the introduction is still unwritten, that message is the easiest way to start taking part.
